The Embassy of Italy in Mogadishu greets with sincere appreciation the entry of Somalia into the United Nations Security Council for the period 2024-2025 .
This is a very significant milestone – having last participated in it 54 years ago, in 1972 – which offers the opportunity to promote Somalia’s growing role in the global diplomacy through the active sharing of responsibilities for the maintenance of international peace and security.
Italy, alongside Somalia through the implementation of numerous projects aimed at strengthening institutions and stability, has offered a specific training course in past weeks and will continue to provide advice for the benefit of Somali diplomats and senior officials who will be involved in the activities of the Security Council.
