The Italian Embassy in Mogadishu informs that starting from Monday 1st September 2025 and until appointment slots are filled, it will be possible to submit a visa application to apply for an entry visa for enrolment in higher education courses for the Academic Year 2025/2026 at the Italian Embassy in Mogadishu.

Subsequently, applications will be sent to the competent Italian Embassy in Nairobi, which bears full responsibility for any decisions regarding visa issuance.

The deadline for submitting applications for entry visas for A.Y. 2025/26 is 30th November 2025, irrespective of other enrolment deadlines set independently by each university.

VISA APPLICATION APPOINTMENTS

Visa application appointments are booked exclusively on an individual basis, according to two alternative methods:

  1. through the Prenot@mi system, until all available slots are filled;
  2. exclusively for scholarship recipients from an Italian university: by sending an email to consolare.mogadiscio@esteri.it with object “Visa application – University Scholarship”, and attaching, in a single PDF file, 1) copy of passport and 2) documentation proving the award of the scholarship by the Italian university. Only applicants who fully comply with these instructions will be contacted by the Embassy staff for an appointment.

On the appointment date, students must be present in person, in order to be able to take the interview and, in the cases required by law, allow the possible acquisition of biometric data by the Embassy staff.

DOCUMENTATION TO BE SUBMITTED (original and copy):

  1. Receipt of the Embassy appointment booking issued by the Prenotami portal;
  2. Type D “national” visa application form, duly completed in each field, dated and signed. The application form can be downloaded at the bottom of this page, in the “Attachments” section;
  3. Valid passport (with residual validity of at least three months after the visa expires) and two blank pages. The passport must be in good condition and show no signs of alteration and/or tampering;

  5. Summary of the pre-enrolment application made on UNIVERSITALY, validated by the Institution of Higher Education;

  7. Economic means of subsistence for the intended stay. These resources are quantified in the amount of € 534,41 per month, equal to € 6.947,33 per year (13 months). The availability of these means of subsistence must be proven by means of personal economic guarantees (bank statement); alternatively, such safeguards may be provided by one of the following sources:
