Mogadishu, 25\/05\/2017: The Italian Embassy in Somalia celebrated its National Day, in remembrance of the vote on June 2nd 1946, that abolished the monarchy. Italian Ambassador to Somalia H.E Carlo Campanile noted the mutual interests between Somalia and Italy, highlighting the two countries\u2019 shared history. He lauded Somalia for the progress it has made at stabilization, albeit under difficult circumstances. \u201cThe tremendous progress achieved by Somalia in the past years should allow for some hope and optimism,\u201d he told guests attending the celebrations. \u201cItaly intends to play a vital role in spurring a Somali-owned process of growth and stabilization. We will be, as we have been since its birth, by Somalia\u2019s side,\u201d the Ambassador affirmed.<\/p>\n
The Italian government has played a significant role in the training of the Somali Police Force and other security forces under the European Union Training Mission (EUTM).
