What is it about?
The Declaration of Value on site is an official document, drawn up in Italian, certifying the authenticity and legitimacy of the documentation submitted, issued by the Italian diplomatic missions to those who, having obtained a qualification from foreign educational institutions, intend to continue their studies in Italy, start the procedure for the recognition of their qualification or profession.
The information provided in the Declaration of Value concerns: nature and level of the institution that issued the foreign bond; legal duration of the course of study; course access requirements; any grade obtained with reference to the evaluation system in force; value of the qualification in the country of origin for the purposes of continuing studies and possibly exercising the profession; any other information that may be deemed useful for its evaluation in Italy.
The Declaration of Value is not a form of recognition of the qualification: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is not in fact competent for the recognition of foreign qualifications.
It is, however, an informative document that training institutes and administrations responsible for the recognition of qualifications in Italy can use for the evaluation of the qualifications themselves, for the purpose of continuing studies, exercising regulated professions, etc.
Depending on the level of the qualification and the purpose of recognition (e.g.: continuation of studies, access to public competitions, achievement of the corresponding Italian qualification, exercise of regulated professions, etc.), there are different procedures and administrations responsible for recognition. An overview of the various recognition procedures can be found on page https://www.cimea.it/pagina-procedure-riconoscimento-titoli.
