The Ferrovie dello Stato Group has launched a programme of discounted fares for Italian citizens residing abroad on the purchase of tickets for Trenitalia-Frecciarossa trains.

To access the discounted fares offered by Trenitalia, the user must communicate their registration with AIRE when purchasing the ticket (by entering a code online or through Trenitalia offices).
To ascertain entitlement to the discount, Trenitalia on-board staff may require travellers who have purchased a discounted fare ticket to show a Traveller’s personal data card, which can be obtained free of charge from the Fast-It consular services portal, and an identity document. Fines will be applied in case the Trenitalia on-board staff ascertains that the passenger is not actually registered with AIRE.
