Italy has always recognized that the Red Crescent Society is at the forefront of humanitarian and medical rescue operations in Somalia.
The contribution of 300,000 Euros from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation’s Bilateral Emergency Fund towards the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), is intended as a concrete expression of Italy’s solidarity and support “to alleviate, at least in part, the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Mogadishu”, states Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano, “and ensure medical assistance to those who have been injured.”
Moreover we remember the 5 volunteers of the Somali Red Crescent Society that have lost their lives during the terrorist attack that struck Mogadishu on October 14th.
