Commanders and staff of the EU military missions in the Horn of Africa meet in Mogadishu

The missions of the Union deployed to fight the against piracy (EUNAVFOR ATALANTA) and to train and advise the Somali National Army (EUTM Somalia) met in Mogadishu.

A delegation of the EUNAVFOR Atalanta, led by MFCD, Admiral Fabio Gregori, visited the EUTM Somalia Mission Command in Mogadishu on 7 September. On 8 September, General Pietro Addis led a delegation of EUTM-Somalia on board the Italian vessel Nave Virginio Fasan moored off the coast of the Somali capital.

The meeting between the two commanders stands for the Union’s comprehensive engagement to enhance security in the Horn of Africa and for the cohesion of its missions.

Both General Addis and Admiral Gregori are Italian and took command of their mission in July last. This was their first meeting.
