The Ambassador’s bio

Pier Mario Daccò Coppi was born in Salsomaggiore Terme (Parma) on 23rd April 1968.

High School Diploma in Classical Studies.

University of Parma: degree in economics and business (1992) with a thesis on the economic integration of Latin America.

One-year postgraduate specialization course in Law, Economics and Politics of the European Communities at the European College of Parma.

Military service in the Carabinieri.

Volunteer in the diplomatic career (September 1996).

At Diplomatic Ceremonial of the Republic (June 1997 – February 1999)

Second secretary at the Italian Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria (1999 – 2002).

At the Consulate General in Buenos Aires with the role of Consul (2002 – 2004).

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NATO Office of the Directorate General for Multilateral Political Affairs and Human Rights (2004 – 2008).

Counselor for emigration and social affairs at the Italian Embassy in Brasilia (2008 – 2012).

Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Lusaka, accredited, with ambassador credentials, also in Lilongwe (Malawi) and Gaborone (Botswana) and at COMESA (Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa) and SADC (Southern Africa Development Community), with the title and rank of Ambassador (2012-2015).

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in service at the Inspectorate General (2015-2019).

At the Embassy of Italy to the Holy See as First Councilor from March 2019.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation since 23rd March 2023, Data Protection Officer.

Ambassador of Italy in Mogadishu (Somalia) since 4th December 2023.
